RIEBEEK KELDER - PROWEIN

At Prowein 2015 Riebeek Cellars launched the first of our new Southern-Rhone style blends from the heart of the Swartland.

Prowein is the largest international wine trade show to feature New World Wines. With over 5 000 exhibitors from across the globe and more than 75 000 visitors, it truly is a spectacular platform for Riebeek Cellars to put their best foot forward. We were proud to share with guests our velvety-smooth, easy-drinking style of wines that also translate the characteristics of our unique Wine Region, Swartland. The feedback received was resoundingly positive, especially so for our new launch range, Short Street, the first of our new Southern Rhone style blends.

Capitalising on the unique terroir, the growing demand for varietals suitable to adapt to global climate changes and the drive towards sustainability, Riebeek Cellars started cultivating, under the guidance of our full time specialist viticulturist, some new Rhone varietals like: Viognier, Grenache Noir and Blanc, Mourvedre etc. that are best suited to the terroir. A few others are in the pipe line.

10 Years later, Riebeek Cellars was proud to launch, at Prowein for the first time ever, a new range of world class Rhone style blends from the heart of the Swartland.

Riebeek Cellar

The range consists of Short Street SGM (Shiraz 68%, Grenache 20%, Mourvedre 10% &
Viognier 2%) and Short Street CGV (Chenin 50%, Grenache Blanc 35% and Viognier 15%) and will initially only be ava
ilable to our international markets. Wine of Origin Swartland, the Short Street wines are testament to the expressive character of this unique wine region and the passion of the wine-making team who crafted it.

The name Short Street pays homage to a small palatzio which is the life and soul of Riebeek Kasteel. Short Street, is a melting pot of creative energy, gourmet fare, farm fresh produce and the vibrant, uncomplicated lifestyle of the people. It captures the essence of the Riebeek Valley, in the heart of the Swartland where passion, creativity and simplicity are distilled into a very unique experience.
